2020 International Friendship Prize for Young People at School

Theme : A 20:20 Vision for Peace

CAIF, the Coventry Association of International Friendship, is a group who seek to promote international friendship, understanding and peace through a range ofactivities. These includeexchange visits with similar groups from Coventry’s twin cities and partner towns abroad, and through other events in our home city.

This annual prize is offered in order toharness the energy, creativity and initiative of Coventry's children and young people in promoting a culture of international friendship, understanding and peace.

Through this prize we hope to inspire young people to engage in peace activities and in the development of friendship and mutual understanding while helping them to recognize that people of different nationalities, ethnicities and cultures have much common and that each individual can make a difference in the world.

The theme of this year’s competition is “A 20:20 Vision for Peace”.

“20/20” is a term used to express visual clarity or sharpness of vision. Having 20/20 vision does not necessarily mean having perfect vision. Some people can see well at a distance but are unable to bring nearer objects into focus. Others can see items that are close but cannot see those far away. So, how can we have a 20:20 vision for peace which can bring it into focus, help us to see it when it’s near to us or grasp it from afar ?

We invite entries which address this idea and which can show how young people can acquire “A 20:20 Vision for Peace
