We are a group who seek to promote international friendship and understanding.

We meet together regularly for social events and fundraising and take part in exchange visits with similar groups from our twin cities and partner towns abroad.

This week, February 16th - 21st  we  welcomed Dominique Mareille from our Vannes Association who expressed a wish to come to us because she was interested in practising her English before she takes an Aural examination in April

During her time here she has been hosted by the Trickett family. Pat and Allan Trickett have  hosted Dominique in the past. Pat arranged with the committee and with her choir members,  a week of local experiences.

Her visit  included speaking with our President  Lord Mayor Cllr Lindsley Harvard and visiting the Council House, the Herhert Art Gallery and the Transport Museum with Chairman Cllr Ram Lakha and Lady Godiva, Pru Poretta.  ( see  Photos in the Gallery)

In addition, she has also been taken round Coventry with Pru Porretta and given a tour of Coventry Cathedral, by our own Mary Goodwin, who is a Cathedral tour Guide.

She has visited  Warwick and the Castle, walked all round Kenilworth and been to the Book Farm, Coventry, with its thousands of books in English, taken to Birmingham  to hear a concert with our Secretary Linda Hirons and her husband and generally had a very happy time.

She will be taking our best wishes to our Vannes friends shortly.

The group have been invited to Vannes and have accepted their kind offer.
The date of our visit is June 29th for one week
We look forward to that event very much knowing how kind and interesting our Celtic friends are !

Social Secretary

Dear Pat,

Thank you so much for choosing to support Global Care with the proceeds from the Peace Concert last night. The total amount is £262.70.
This is a wonderful result and the money will be used to support our Shack Schools for the Syrian refugee children in Lebanon.
On a personal note I must say we all really enjoyed the concert! We loved the excellent quality and variety of music and dance on display.
Our congratulations to everyone!.
Every blessing,

Another successful concert took place on Sunday November 13 in The Hub at Coventry University.

Performers included The Nightingales directed by Pat Trickett; Sensa Nome directed by Joanna Kunda; soloists Hayley, Laura and with Irish magic Carmel. There were African and Irish dancers too!

Thanks to the technical team at The Hub and to all of Pat's friends and helpers.

Above all thanks to Pat for her commitment and energy which makes these concerts possible.

During Peace Month from 2-14 November there was an exhibition of Banners on the railings outsde St Michael's House Priory Row. They illustrated the close ties that we have enjoyed with Dresden since the 19th Century. A talk from Rainer Barczaitis on 2 November complimented the exhibition.

This was supported by the Dresden Anglo-German Society and John Yeadon of Arts Exchange
